TL;DR

Finish a milestone with us. Then help the next person start theirs. That's the whole loop.

Why this matters

Helping others is one of the NHS's five evidence-based steps to mental wellbeing — for the helper as much as the helped.

This is the loop that keeps the club alive: you were held, so now you hold.

Peer coaches are not experts. They're people who remember what the first step felt like — and choose to stand next to someone else's.

  • 1Finish a milestone with the club: 5K, 10K, half — any distance.
  • 2You'll get simple training: how to welcome, how to pace a group, how to spot someone struggling.
  • 3You commit to being at one session a fortnight and welcoming the newcomers.
  • 4For our first 20 founding members: peer coach status is yours automatically once you complete a milestone.

COMMON MISTAKES

  • ×Waiting until you feel 'expert enough'. Peer coaches aren't experts — they're the ones one step ahead.
  • ×Pacing to your PB, not the beginner's.
  • ×Forgetting how nervous you were on day one.

LEVEL UP

  • Take our free peer-coach short course.
  • Commit to one session a fortnight for six months.
  • Recruit the next peer coach yourself.
